Leah was living the desperate life of a stray, all alone, when her life took a sharp turn.
Rescuers were alerted to Leah, lying on the side of a road, barely able to move. Leah is months old and was rendered paralyzed after a tragic accident. Witnesses report that a man, in his hatred for stray dogs in his neighborhood, beat her over her back with a heavy stick, resulting in a broken spine. While she survived, she suffered severe damage to her spine, and now has to drag her hind legs.
Leah is now at GWARP's shelter and is SAFE. Her rescuers are hopeful that her mobility can improve with spinal surgery and further treatment. If all goes well with her surgery, Leah can practice walking via physical therapy. While Leah is nursed back to health to undergo surgery, rescuers are hoping to get her a wheelchair so she can enjoy being a puppy on the shelter floor.
