These two gentle souls were left outside, unsupervised and not checked in on for two whole days during which time they escaped their yard and were viciously attacked by neighborhood dogs. Their owner had scheduled them to both be euthanized due to their horrific injuries. We need help to save their lives.
These two sweet dogs, Chance and Maple, were described as extremely loving and affectionate. Looking at photos from before their horrific injuries, you can feel their precious, goofy spirits radiate out. Chance and Maple were confined outside by their owner. When the owner left on holiday, they tasked someone with watching the house. This person failed to check on the dogs for two whole days, and when they finally checked outside they found that they had escaped out of the open backyard gate.
These tender souls were no doubt ill-equipped to fight for their lives, and were unable to defend each other against the brutal attacks of neighborhood dogs. They were brought into a local shelter in shocking condition. They both sustained deep bite wounds all over their bodies. Maple will definitely lose her eye which is at the center of a deep gash that runs the length of her face, and Chance has critical injuries on the back part of his body. Certainly, both will require extensive surgery to save their lives, not to mention emotional rehab for all of the trauma they have suffered.
Austin Bulldog Rescue requested to take custody of the dogs from the shelter, but they were given back to the original owner who had scheduled them to be euthanized due to a lack of funds for their life-saving surgeries. ABR stepped in again, and asked the owner to surrender them in order to save their lives. The owner agreed, and we then pleaded with the ER to cancel the euthanizations and to perform whatever surgeries were necessary. On top of everything else, we found out that they are both Heartworm positive, Maple is a Parvo survivor, and Chance might lose a back leg. We will not let these wonderful souls die.
We urgently need your help to give Chance and Maple a second chance at life. They don't deserve to be abandoned outside, and they should never have had to battle for their very existence. We will not rest until Chance and Maple are stable and until they are transported to a loving home where they will be able to recover both mentally and physically. We know how crucial it is to ensure that dogs have homes that can provide them with the care and resources they need, and we pledge to make that happen for these sweet buddies. Please help us fund these poor dogs' futures. With your donations we will literally save their lives.
